Happy Birthday to me

My gift from my husband: a GPS, a dinner party last Saturday with some of my friends (he cooked a delicious dinner), and lunch today at Senor Taco.

My gift from my kids: napping at the same time (I got to sleep for an hour!)

My gift to myself: taking the kids to Bruster's this afternoon

Another step into my thirties. There's no going back now.

**

Ten years ago I was turning a mere 21.

I was a senior at Winthrop. I was a few months away from getting my tattoo on my ankle. My favorite TV shows were Friends and Dawson's Creek, and my favorite band was Live. I wore contacts and kept my hair a lot shorter.

Now I'm up at midnight to feed my 3 month old, not to take a trip to Denny's. I have spit up on my shirt and Backyardigans music constantly in my head. I only read children's books and I'm not far off from getting a minivan (that'll come when/if we have a third kid). I wear glasses, my hair is usually in a pony tail and I rarely wear makeup. I couldn't tell you a thing about the night life in Knoxville, but I know where the fun places are to take a toddler.

Oh, and I've changed an estimated 9,100 diapers so far.

Yep, I'm definitely a mom. It may seem less glamorous...but ask me if I'm happier at 31 than I was at 21.
