Erin said mommy for the first time this morning. She has been saying mama for a long time, and she now says daddy, but not mommy until today. Pretty cool.

We've been using the cloth diapers for a few weeks now (we didn't use them in Ohio). We started having trouble with leaks - like her leaking after 30 minutes sometimes. I couldn't figure out the problem because they really shouldn't be doing that.
Well, with the help of my detective husband, he suggested that it might be the disposable liners we put down that make it easy to dispose of the poop. And he was right. We tested it with water, and it rolled right to the side of the diaper. So it wasn't allowing the fleece of the diaper to absorb like it should.
I'm glad to know the problem, but now it will make messy clean ups even messier.

I've given Erin a new level of freedom, but she hasn't taken me up on it yet. Since she was tiny I have put her in the bathroom with me while I shower. It started out with her in the car seat on the floor, then she started crawling so I baby-proofed the bathroom to let her roam. 99% of the time she's perfectly content in there while she plays with her magazines and bath toys. I've just never trusted her enough to roam around the whole house while I can't get to her in 2 seconds if something comes crashing down.
But I decided to leave my worries behind and give her some more independence. I closed off as much of the house as I could, leaving only the living room, dinning room, kitchen and our bedroom open. Two mornings now I have left the door open, but she still stayed with me in the bathroom. I guess she's happy staying put.
The lesson is I don't need to hold her back in certain areas because she'll be just fine. She really is getting to be a big girl.
