Baby Noah Photos

Highlights of Noah's first 3 days.

Day 3

Room's quiet. Daddy and baby are sleeping (well, Noah was stirring, but settled back down after being reswaddled). Maybe I should be sleeping too, but I'm not tired after a semi-good night of sleep.

Noah went off to the nursery around midnight and came back around 3 to eat. Then left again and came back at 6:30. So we ended up with decent sleep for night two. Too bad the nursery staff can't come home with us :)

We can leave around 2:30 this afternoon (had to wait a full 48 hours). I am looking forward to getting him home and seeing my daughter again. I'm not used to only seeing her for an hour or two a day. I hear she asks about us a lot. But at least she knows where we are and has been able to visit. They should be here again around lunch time.

The nurse came in and took him off for some blood work. And the pediatrician will be here today to look him over.

Home soon...yay!

Day 2

Well we have all survived the first 24 hours. Everyone is doing great. I'm probably the one doing the least great since I can't really sit down comfortably. Noah is a good baby so far...a good eater and a good sleeper. We actually were not up the entire night last night (yes I realize that might change, but we'll take the chance to sleep for now).

I am very ready to get home tomorrow afternoon. Not a fan of being confined to the hospital room (and basically the bed too) and the food is not that great. I have a memory of the food being better two years ago. It will be nice to be back at home.

Erin is taking this all pretty well. She has visited twice now with Grandma and Grandpa, and she seemed a little more warmed up to her brother today. As you can see she got to hold him. However, when she had enough, she pretty much was going to get up and let him fall to the floor. Luckily daddy was sitting there too. This poor little boy is going to need to learn some self defense rather quickly.

That's it for now. I'll post a ton more photos when we get settled at home. Very happy to be a mommy of two.

Almost There

The doctor just came in to check again. We're really close. After the doctor checked her, the nurse was doing some things I couldn't see. Cheryl and I had been looking for a movie to watch on Netflix, maybe starring Johnny Depp, but looks like we're not gonna have time. The doctor was perusing the online offerings with me and telling me about some of her favorite TV shows. Now they're setting up the room for the delivery.

I got burned on guessing two years ago, but I bet the nurse we've had since 7, who goes off duty at 3, will be delivering this kid.

Nothing to Report

There's nothing interesting to report, so I'm not blogging now.

I Just Realized

I just realized he's gonna be born on National Doughnut Day.

Pain Free

The epidural is working wonderfully. Cheryl can just barely lift her legs now, and she looks nice and peaceful, trying to doze off for a bit while the nurse pushes buttons and whatnot around the room.

We're gonna see if Erin can come visit for a bit later. Here's hoping she doesn't pull out all of mommy's tubes.

Water Broken

Contractions every three minutes or less now. Starting to hurt. Epidural's on its way, but the guy's doing another one, so it'll be maybe a half hour, says the nurse, whose name changed into Keri.

The doctor came in and broke C's water a couple minutes ago. That didn't hurt, and it'll help things move along quicker.

We've been watching The Office on Netflix and Hulu to pass the time.

The Little One May Have a Sense of Irony

Well, that may have been good timing. Since we've been at the hospital, and Cheryl's been hooked up to the monitor, all they've done is draw blood and give her antibiotics. No pitocin or anything labor-inducing. But the contractions are coming every seven minutes or so. So maybe we'd have been here now anyways.

Here We Are

As before, the husband will be blogging in blue. So you can tell who's saying what.

We're here at the hospital. Cheryl has a great vein, according to the nurse. And she's hungry. I mean Cheryl is. I have no idea about the nurse, and she's friendly-ish but kinda gruff-looking, so I'm not brave enough to ask if she's hungry.

We listened to the Decembrists' "Sons and Daughters" on the way in.

The nurse just said, "My name's Gail right now. It'll change at 7:00." That must be tough, I'm thinking.

Cheryl says, "Hi, I'm hungry."

More later.
