We Have A Ten Pounder

Went to the doctor for Erin's 4 month check up today. She got three more pokes in the leg. She actually did great - only cried while she was getting the shots, then quieted right down. Wish I hadn't looked at the first needle going in...I'm surprised it didn't come out of the other side of her thigh (sorry, that's gross, but that sucker was long).

She didn't gain much weight over the last time. She's only at 10 pounds. But the doctor's not concerned because her height is increasing steadily at the 50 percentile range, and her head circumference is increasing at the same rate as her weight. So he thinks she's doing fine and that she'll probably be petite. He also said we could start on some basic solids.

This evening, I think she had a slight fever from the shots. She was very still and quiet while we were making dinner and her head felt hot. I felt like a real mom, because I noticed she was hot by kissing her head. Poor thing looked kinda pathetic. Gave her some baby tylenol and I think it helped.

It's going to be tough when she's sick for real for the first time.
