I've started setting Erin's bowl of cereal out on the table the night before with a cup of milk in the fridge so that she can get her breakfast without having to get me up if Noah and Luke are still sleeping. I'm trying to buy a few extra minutes, and some mornings it pays off.
A few bits of background: 1. my kids LOVE bananas 2. Noah says "thank you" quite often after you give him something 3. he now says "Erin" (sounds like eh-in) 4. and I haven't ever heard him put two words together.
So this morning after Erin eats her cereal (I'm still sleeping and Sean is getting ready for work), she takes a banana upstairs to share with Noah, who is still hanging out in his crib. I find this out when I went upstairs to get Noah. The evidence - the peel - is on her bed. No big deal, it was nice of her to think of him and share.
So I'm changing his diaper and I say "so Erin shared a banana with you?" As soon as I said that, Erin walked in the room and Noah says "Erin, thank you."
Such a polite first sentence!
