I have been very lucky to have had help from family after each of my kids have been born. This time it has made a huge difference since Sean needed to go back to teaching when Luke was only 5 days old (the other two were born during summer break). Taking care of a newborn is full time work, but so is taking care of Erin and Noah. So having my mom and then my mother in-law around for the first two weeks has been wonderful.
But as of this afternoon, we're on our own. I'll have Sean this weekend, but Monday it'll just be me and the three of them. My dreading that has died down a little as Luke has gotten into a tiny bit of a routine. I'm sure someone will often be crying and waiting for something, but I think we'll all survive.
And if we can get through next week, then school is out for Sean and the kids. So it'll get easier again for a couple of weeks.
