Looks like we have made it to Friday. I survived my week alone with the kids...and we're all still alive!
Our days have actually fallen into a general routine, which I didn't think would happen with a newborn in the mix. Luke has a pretty predictable feeding/sleeping schedule, which the other two didn't have this early on. It makes things easier, except that he usually needs to be fed just as I'm getting the kids home from school and needing to get their lunches together. And then his next feeding is usually about the time Noah gets up from his nap and needs a snack. So the timing sometimes has one of them waiting and crying.
I have two favorite parts of the day. One is around 1pm when Noah is down for his nap, Luke is asleep in the moby wrap, and Erin is watching Diego. This means that the house is quiet...no one is crying, asking for water, fighting over a toy, needing a diaper change, or making a mess. I get some peace and to do whatever I want.
My other favorite part of the day is around 8pm. Erin and Noah are in bed, Sean has Luke, and the house is quiet again. I get to take my shower, have a snack, write some emails, and have some time away from the little people (although now, Luke is starting the evening fussiness that most go through around this age, so it's not so quiet).
Well, school's out now, so I get Sean home for 2 weeks and I don't have to worry about shuttling the kids back and forth to school. So it should be a little more relaxed. And in January - when school's back in - Luke will be that much older and hopefully having an even more predicable routine and getting easier to manage. We just have to get past these newborn days.
