Noah the Spoon Master

Noah has gotten more and more insistent that he feed himself. Erin didn't master the spoon until around 18 months, but I think that had a lot to do with me not wanting to let go of control...and having to clean up more mess. But Noah has shown a big interest (he's quite demanding about it actually) in using a spoon. I just can't believe how good he is at it so quickly.

One problem, though, is that a month or two ago he started refusing to wear a bib. I tried to make him wear one this morning while he ate his oatmeal by himself, and he just screamed and pulled at it until I took it off. So he ate shirtless. Not a huge deal, I guess. But I see saucy meals getting messy fast.

Today I got him the plate/spoon/fork set that's in the above photos (they only had the hot pink). The suction cup on the bottom of the plate is useless, but the curved edge helps him get food on the spoon. And the spoon is very easy for him to grasp. So I suppose it was worth the $7.

I'm glad he's learning this skill now, so that when the baby is born, he can have a plate of food set in front of him and just let him go at it!
