We haven't just been buried under boxes. We've actually gotten to do a few fun things to get us starting to live in Greenwood.
Last weekend we took a trip to Lowes and got what we needed to start our garden. We're starting with tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini and basil. Erin really enjoyed helping her dad.
That same day we went to Greenwood's Festival of Discovery. Mostly, it was a ton of bbq vendors, musical performances, and then the arts and crafts booths with stuff for sale. Our time was spent at the kiddie rides, which was Erin's first time on any type of amusement ride. She had a good time, but afterwards, the heat was getting to both kids so we just headed home after one small free sample of barbecue.
Our other venture out was last Sunday to Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia. We were invited by our friends Adam and Jen (they have two young kids). We tried to get out there early enough to beat the afternoon heat, but it did catch up to us. It was a good day trip, I think we all had a lot of fun.
The only other outings in town have been to stores and a couple of restaurants. Haven't found the fun kid places yet (are there any?). I have taken the kids to the only mall in town twice now. You can stand in the middle and see both ends. There are two restaurants in the food court and certainly no kid's play area (only 4 of those rides that cost like a dollar per ride...good thing Erin is just content sitting on them without making them go).
I'm sure it will take a while to feel settled and like this is home. But I think we've started.
