Leave Me Alone Mom, I'm Busy Playing with These Shoes

The 16 month old toddler we are living with:

  • can say about 20 to 30 words (or her version of that word)
  • is learning to climb on low furniture (couch, coffee table, ottoman)
  • has learned how to hold a pen/pencil/crayon (look out walls)
  • likes to imitate mom and dad (like blowing on hot soup)
  • listens to/follows directions well (go get the ball, give that to mommy)
  • can reach the door knobs but can't turn them
  • loves to point out when people have shoes on
  • not a picky eater
  • does pretty well holding her own cup
  • likes doggies and kitties
  • can play independently by herself for quite a while (that's nice for mama)
  • 95% of the time sleeps for 12 hours solid overnight
  • will pick up the tiniest crumb off the floor and either hand it to me or eat it
  • gives hugs and kisses
  • loves to make us laugh
  • loves other babies
We are also living with this child:

  • disobeys just to test if we really mean "no"
  • likes to get her way (but who doesn't?)
  • doesn't like things getting taken away from her if she really wanted it (something she shouldn't have)
  • doesn't like getting her diaper changed
I'm sure there's more, but this is just a little of who Erin Rita is. It looks like there is more good than bad, which I definitely think is true.

Happy 16 months, Erin!
