Not Ready for the Cinema

For two months during the summer, Regal Cinema has a free family film festival. Every Tuesday & Wednesday mornings they show a kid movie with free admission.

Since we had nothing going on this morning, I thought we'd give it a try. Our first strike against us was that she didn't have a successful morning nap, so we left the house with her already a bit tired.

According to the movie schedule, I thought they were showing a cartoon movie, but they weren't. I think a cartoon would hold her attention longer. But we went in anyway. The movie they were showing attracted 8 and 10 year olds, which I assumed there would be 4 year olds running around and so any noises from Erin would go unnoticed.

It was crowded, so we sat on the end. As I would expect from my child, she got fidgety and loud - and it was relatively quiet in there.

So we didn't even last 5 minutes before I gave up and just took her to the play area (the theater is attached to the mall). But even there, after playing for 15 minutes or so, she kept walking over to the exit - she wanted to go explore Bath & Body Works. Since she was fighting me on that, we just came home.

A mile from home she fell asleep in the car seat. I put her down in the crib 20 minutes ago and she's still whining. I guess I'll try again after lunch.

Not the best start to the day.

Maybe she just wanted some sparkly lip gloss.
