Our Day Today

We started our day by postponing the playgroup's outing to the petting zoo due to the rain. Boo, rain.

9:15 was Erin's one year check up. She's right at the 50th percentile for her weight - a little over 21 pounds. She's also 28 inches tall. The doc says she's doing great, right on track for everything. I asked him about her only taking milk in the bottle and not from the sippy cup. He said not to worry about getting rid of the bottle until 18 months. So that's reassuring. Also, we're going to try soy milk and see if she likes the taste of that any better.

We have moved on from the baby food jars and now Erin eats whatever we make for dinner. Tonight we made a pizza with pineapple, tomato, broccoli and ham with a sun dried tomato alfredo sauce. Once she got a taste, she couldn't get enough. She also had a side of peas which quickly got ignored.

After dinner we took a short trip out to Kroger. While down the juice isle, we took a look to see what other options we have besides apple juice (without all the added junk - just juice). We noticed Motts has a "for tots" 40% less sugar apple juice. But upon a closer look, we realized they were selling watered down juice for twice the price. Yeah, 40% less sugar because off all the water you added. Not too cool.

It was close to Erin's bedtime when we got home, so we played with her in the living room and waited to see the tired signs. We discovered how well she can follow our simple commands. We already knew she could "push the button," but now she can "put the block in the bucket," "go get your ball," "give the ball to Mommy." It's just amazing to watch her obviously understand what we are telling her. And she listens! That won't last forever...
