Two-Word Vocabulary

The past month or so, the only babbling we get out of her is baba and dada. We have been working on associating baba with bottle and dada with her dad. I think she gets baba, because I say the word repeatedly as I'm mixing up the formula. So now when we are in the living room and it's time to eat, I ask her if she wants her baba and she gets excited and starts saying baba as she gladly follows me to the kitchen.

Dada has been a little harder to determine. Everything is dada - from her toys to the kitchen table - and she usually says it after I say where's your daddy? But does she really get the association with him? I've tried putting his picture on the computer screen really big, but I get nothing.

So today at 4, I hear the car drive up. I carry her to the back door and open the blinds. As soon as she sees him she says dada. She had not been babbling prior to that and I wasn't saying anything because I wanted to surprise her that he was home.

So there you go.

Also, I've been teaching her how to push buttons. I'll take a toy with buttons on it, fold over her three fingers and push her index finger down to make the music or noise. The other day, I noticed that all I have to do now is hold her wrist in front of a button and she sticks out her finger by herself. She doesn't push down yet, but she's learning!

I think we are going to be amazed at all the new things she starts doing over the next few months. I just don't want her to start walking while we're away at Puerto Rico.
