When you think of child-proofing the house, you think of outlets, locking cabinets and drawers, making the stove safe, tucking cords away, and removing breakable things from reach.
It's really so much more than that. Once they are crawling and endlessly exploring, you can't have ANYTHING (outside of furniture) within 2 to 3 feet of the floor. It's amazing, and they are glad to show you what needs to be moved.
The office has been a particular place for a lot of "no's!" So last night we spent a couple hours rearranging the room and getting things more organized. It turned out to have completely baby-proofed the room. We had to bring in a small pile of toys just so she has something to get into while I (or we) are in the office at the computer.
There are still some other areas in the house that need to be worked on. I really didn't think it would take this much effort! I don't feel so bad now that we waited so long to get started - there is so much we would have missed anyway.
