The three of us went to Mass this evening for Ash Wednesday. We have now learned that a short nap and some food right before church is a bad combination for our (almost) 10 month old. She had so much energy and could not sit still for a second. She also kept smiling and flirting with the older guy next to us.
We sat near the back as usual so that she wouldn't be too much of a distraction, but since it was crowded there were still many people behind us. She made it to the homily before her dad took her outside. I felt bad that he had to miss the rest, but I guess that's what we get for being parents.
When we got home, she continued to be in a bubbly playful mood and didn't show signs of needing to go to bed until 7:30, which is unheard of. The past several weeks she has been going to bed around 6:30/6:45, even 7 on rare occasions. So I was shocked when we passed 7 o'clock and she was still cruising around the living room going from one toy to the next. The only thing I can think of, is that we gave her a new jar of a turkey rice dinner that maybe they added speed to.
But I'm not complaining, she was a lot of fun tonight.
I guess I haven't mentioned this yet, but in 19 days we ("we" does not include the short one) are going on a 4 day trip to Puerto Rico. Last summer, we had some flight vouchers that were about to expire, so we picked a place to go visit instead of letting them go to waist.
We're going during Spring Break, and I can't believe that is already three weeks away. We debated on taking the little one, but with a 6:30/7:00 bedtime, naps and frequent eating, it would be a much more fun and relaxing trip without her. I will miss her greatly, but the time away will probably do us all some good. She'll be with grandma & grandpa, and I think she'll be just fine.
Okay, well, there is about an hours worth of dishes calling my name, so I better get going. Happy Lent!
