Maybe We Need To Fill Her Room With Poppies

In the beginning of December we tried to get Erin to take naps without being held. It wasn't successful, so we put it off to try again later.

It's later.

When we worked on bedtime a while back, we used Dr. Ferber's method. But he didn't really address naps in detail, so I turned to Dr. Weissbluth this time. He focuses a lot more on naps, and I found his book really helpful. I wish I had read it before she was born, it would have made life a lot easier on all of us (so for any new or upcoming moms, I recommend reading "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child").

Yesterday we bought black-out drapes for her room, which I think will help. Her room is so sunny during the day.

Our day so far: 1st feeding 5:30am, she cried a little and then slept from 6:20 to 7 in the crib. Back down at 8 (yes, she needed to go back down that soon) and cried until 8:40. Now the room is quiet.

So we'll see how the week goes. I'm more determined now to make this work. I know she isn't getting very good quality sleep while in our arms. And also, it makes it impossible for me to be productive during the day. So it will work this time even if it takes 2 weeks to get it right. I don't care how much she cries (well, I do care, but it's for her benefit).

Man, I hope the next kid is easier...
