Erin, The Hiker

So yesterday we took a little day trip to back to Bays Mountain for a hike. Leaving at 10am, I really didn't expect us to return at 10pm, but I guess with a 2 month old, everything takes longer than you think. Aside from a little fussiness, Erin did very well on her first road/hiking trip.

When we arrived, we ate our lunch at a picnic table near the parking lot. Out of nowhere, a small deer passed by us like we weren't even there. He passed on to the next table, where he was fed some food (good job, people). The camera was in the car, but later we were able to get his picture.

After that, we walked around and looked at the little animal habitats - deer, wolves, otters and mountain lions. When we passed by the deer, they were close to the fence, and I think Erin was looking at one, not sure.

So after going back to the car and feeding Erin, we put her in the Snugli and headed out for our 2.6 mile hike around the lake. It was a very nice and peaceful walk. At first, Erin was wide awake and liking the outdoors. Then, after a wet diaper, she passed out and missed the rest of it, including two more deer along the way.

The trip back home was long, stopping to feed and change Erin, eating dinner, etc. Overall, it was a really great day. Tiring, but good. We also got some more great photos:

Yeah, it's funny how she usually looks right at the camera when we are taking her picture. I think she's just wondering what the heck that thing is.

She's doing great. We're still doing a combination of breastfeeding and two bottles of preemie formula a day, so we know she's getting the calories she needs. We can tell that she's continuing to gain weight. I don't know if you can tell in those pictures, but her cheeks are getting chubbier.

And in the one above those two, she kinda looks like Mike Myers dancing.
