Erin's First Party

Healthy Families had a summer party yesterday afternoon. We took a chance in going, and Erin did great! She was alert and happy for most of the time, until she fell asleep.

She was by far the youngest one there, and a lot of the moms commented on how tiny and cute she is. Everyone was also impressed with how content she was with being outside. I think she was just showing off for them, because the second we got back in the car, she started screaming.

Obviously, we couldn't do much with her but stand around and hold her. For the other kids, there were kiddy pools and bubble machines. It will be fun when Erin can run around and play with the other kids. One week at a time, I guess.

Then, last night, Erin let me sleep in my own bed from 2 to 4:30am! It was great. I hope we can keep this up and get her to sleep for longer stretches (and be down by herself).

Glad it's Friday. S has been pretty busy all week - he started teaching his summer school class and working at the writing center. He's home Tues & Thurs afternoons, but otherwise he's gone all day. So our evenings have seemed to fly by.

It's hard when he still has work to do in the evening, but I need a break from Erin because I've had her all night and all day. Sometimes you need a clone of yourself so you can get things done (or take a break) and not ignore your baby.

Okay, I'm off to have lunch while she's still being quiet.

Dude, in that picture she looks kinda stuck up and bored. Maybe that's why she didn't play with any of the other kids....
