This is me back in early November. Not much belly showing just yet, only about 2 1/2 months along.
This was the weekend that we made our first purchase for the new babe. We went to a local flea market and got a really good deal on an old, but in good shape dresser. It needed a paint job, so we picked out a "sageish" color and in the end it looked pretty retro. Something from a Grandma's house. But we both liked it, and I got to expend some creativity for a few hours on that nice Sunday afternoon while I painted it.
Since then, we really haven't made many more purchases - just a few clothes from a thrift store, some books, and a couple of smaller strollers. The rest of the stuff we have gotten has been given to us (bassinet, 2 swings, high chair, a monitor, more clothes). All that and we haven't even had a baby shower yet.
Now we move to Christmas. It was a good holiday. We spent the weekend in Greenville visiting with my parents and Brian & Nicole (when this photo was taken), and then Christmas morning we drove up to Charlotte to visit S's parents (by the way, I'm not allowed to use my husband's first name on here. He doesn't want to be "googleable" during a job search to anything personal. So I'll have to call him "S" or maybe Dad on occasion).
Anyway, this is a belly shot around the middle of my fourth month. Still at the point where I don't necessarily look pregnant - if you didn't know me I could just have a pudgy belly.
It is true, by the way, that the second trimester is the best...at least I have found that to be the case. You are past the morning sickness but not yet to the back ache, heartburn, and other things I won't mention. Oh, and towards the end of this trimester you get to finally feel this human being moving around - one of the coolest things in my life to this point.
And here we are today. This is a 6 1/2 month belly. I'm not wearing a maternity shirt, so it really shows the truth. This is fairly accurate, but we had a buy one, get one free dinner at Moe's tonight (our romantic Valentine's Day dinner). So there are chips and a burrito in there along with the baby. But nonetheless, I think I look huge when I look at this. And we still have 2 1/2 months to go...yikes.
In addition to our dinner tonight, I also had an oatmeal and grapefruit breakfast in bed, accompanied by a really sweet handmade card. It would have been perfect if the glass of apple juice didn't have a ring of milk residue at the bottom. We really need a dishwasher...
